[UUN] Beleit C-9B special edition
Credits
Slight deviation from the template I use, but that's because I think it's especially important here.
Overall plane design is still the C-9B from like 5-6 months ago, but modified with the help of...
- Chocodabean, who made the custom cockpit interior and ejection seat and also, more importantly, fixed the problems the plane had and also did some flight testing
- NewWorldAerospace, who made some of the parts I used on this thing and also did the test flying
- BoredDeffy who provided creative input and also the pinup art on the thumbnail
- Dstar300000 for keeping the lore in check
- And of course myself since I made the original plane and did the somewhat fancy fuselage wings and ducting and all that.
Give the guys above a round of applause, and if you like the parts they did then do check them out too (especially Choco and Deffy they're pretty underrated i think)
(and to everyone, congrats on making it another year)
And now, to the plane itself.
Lore:
Beleit C-9B "Allegro"
The Beleit C-9 (Reporting name Allegro) is a 4th generation strike fighter created by Beleit Technologies featuring a sleeker and more streamlined form than its larger air superiority oriented cousin the F/C-8 Peregrine. It was designed in 1978 to fulfill the SFAU's Federate Naval Forces' need for a strike fighter more advanced than the A/C-4D and C-6Fs that they fielded during ongoing the Caspian Oil Crisis which would mount the newly designed AMR-76 compact pulse doppler radar and reach speeds in excess of Mach 1.25 at higher altitudes.
The Allegro entered service in 1982 with the Federate Naval Forces during the intermediary period between the Caspian Oil Crisis and Operation Prospero Garden. At the time, it was overshadowed by the F/C-8 in exercises and demonstrations due to its BVR capabilities and the emphasis on air superiority, but at the start of the Caucasian Expansionist Offensive and subsequent Operation Prospero Garden the C-9 would immediately overshadow the F/C-8 due to the much messier nature of the operation, which the C-9 could better adapt to.
Design and Background
The C-9's design can be traced to an earlier Beleit proposal for a compact variant of the F/C-8, which engineers chose to improve on as a more sustainable aircraft for drawn out deployments due to lower operation costs. Specifically, the engineers aimed to create a smaller, cheaper, and more easily modifiable strike aircraft for the navy with the C-9's design.
The C-9's early models were equipped with two AviaTech SLa-T29 afterburning turbojet engines each capable of producing up to 50 kN of dry thrust and 80 kN of afterburning thrust (note: engine thrust is significantly greater in game in favor of performance) that enabled it to reach speeds up to 2,100 km/h at high altitudes, while later variants were equipped with SLa-14 afterburning turbofan engines which allowed it to reach over 2,500 km/h at high altitudes.
The C-9 would see many modifications over the course of its service history, both by the State Federation of the Asian Union and foreign operators of the aircraft.
