XF-53

Because of everyone who upvoted and spotlighted this plane, it became my first one to reach the 1st page. Thanks to all of you!

Background

XF-53 is an experimental aircraft made to test propellers with thrust vectoring control to improve pitch maneuverability. A contra-rotating propeller layout was chosen to eliminate the effects of prop wash on the roll and yaw axis while the propeller is angled. The philosophy of the aircraft is to angle itself properly and take a shot from its two devastating 150mm with 50 rounds each cannons, once and for all.

Controls

  • VTOL for propeller blade pitch
  • Pitch also controls propeller angle
  • Standard pitch, roll, throttle, yaw

    Contra-rotating propellers? Engine vectoring?
two heavy-artillery guns on a fighter?
    ...
Welp, the engineers have unionized. Seem to be waving red flags, even.

@DumbPlaneMaker yah I really like that mechanic, makes the plane much more dynamic to fly.

@Carbon2128 That's the catch of manually controlling the prop pitch, you have to set a value that both gives adequate acceleration and doesn't overspeed
