F3D Skyknight
The F3d skyknight or skynite was designed in 1945+ as a carrier born, twin engine radar equipped all weather seek and destroy fighter. equipped with a Chicago piano of 20mm cannon, it played an experimental role as a jet fighter in the Korean war.
Contrary to patriotic propaganda and US Bias, this plane was outperformed by most prop driven fighters then in service with the Navy. thus it was relegated to be a land based marine corp jet fighter. infact, it often arrived in the CZ well after the bombers it was meant to protect had left, leading to the tactic of arriving early, gaining air superiority, and providing cover via destroying anti air guns. It's only saving grace was carrying plenty of fuel for it's meager jet engines.
Hampered by it's lack of power, (it was powered by two engines that were later relegated to generator/jet assisted thrust use, wtf was Douglas thinking?)
it soon found itself as a missile testbed and target drone.

Seriously the performance is so terrible I don't know why anyone would want to fly this airplane
