Updates:

  • [20/02/2024] The Challenge has closed and judging will commence as soon as possible.

  • [30/03/2024] The results will be finished and published soon. University Work and an upcoming house move have caused delays.

Welcome everyone

Hello, I am back once again with another challenge, because I like to test your building skills.
Simple concept to this one, but there is a huge range of possibilities.

Rules and Regulations

  • You may have up to 2 entries to this compition
  • Your build must be a trainer aircraft meant for military service.

    • You are allowed to build any kind of trainer starting from WW1 through to present day

    • Your build can be a replica or fictional.

    • You can build a prop/turbo-prop trainer, Jet trainer, or something with a different propulsion source (eg: Rockets)

    • Helicopter Trainers are also allowed.

    • That being said, your build, if fictional, can't be something that looks like it was created in Star Wars or whatever, it should conform to what our real aircraft look like.

    • As long as you can justify it, I'll allow Gliders.

  • There should be a minimum seating capacity of two. This will differ depending on what you build.
  • Your maximum part count should not exceed 1200 parts, nor go below the minimum part count of 250. There will be a 50 part count margin for both, meaning you are allowed a maximum of 50 parts above or below the max/min count. Going over this will result in deduction of points.
  • You may only use XML modding in your build. Any use of mod parts that I need to download to use will result in that build being disqualified.
  • The performance should be as realistic as you can get, it should be as close to how you'd expect the build to perform in real life as you can make it.

    • The build must be capable of flying and I don't expect to see infinite fuel.

  • The controls of your build must be listed in the description on the website or in the game itself via the pop-up. Not listing these will have consequences.
  • Your entry must be a successor to this post. If you forget to do so, a moderator should be able to help you if you ping them.
  • Whilst it's not necessary and no points will be deducted if this is not included, it would be nice to see some sort of backstory/history/context in the description of your entry.
  • If a build is a collaboration between multiple people, it must be clearly stated.
  • I will only accept builds that are made from scratch or are in the process of being made and happen to fit the criteria. Any builds that are a repost of something you have already published will be disqualified.
(If your build violates any of the rules above, unless it requires an instant disqualification, the extremity of the violation determines how many points are deducted.)

Judging

I will be judging each entry out of 10 based on:

Design

The design of your build, the accuracy of replicas and the
creativity of fictional builds.

Performance

Speed, manoeuvrability, etc.

Detail

The paint scheme, decals, etc.

Build quality

The quality of the build.

My impressions

Exactly what it says.

Presentation

The thumbnail, description, images in said description and so on
(I judge all entries separately, meaning that if you submit two entries, they will be judged individually, like they have been submited by two seperate people.)

REWARDS:

1st place: 28 upvotes
2nd place: 18 upvotes
3rd place: 12 upvotes
- Each entry gets one upvote
- If it's a collaboration project (Make sure I know this), the builders will share the reward.

You have until

February 20th 2024.

Have Fun!

I'm not accepting any new entries now, so if you failed to submit yours on time, tough luck.

Yeah, I'm aware, but I had to catch up on University Work, and I'm going to be moving House soon. I'll try and get all the results finished by Sunday.

No, there aren't any single seat trainers that exist, and a trainer being a single seater kind of defeats the purpose of it being a trainer.
If you're using the default canopy part, I'd suggest either just using Overload to xml mod the proportions of it and make the fuselage fit to it, or better, try and learn to make a canopy out of fuselage blocks, which is the better way in the end if you want someone more quality.

Potentially stupid question, but can the trainer aircraft/s be single seaters? Trying to fenagle a canopy into place, but getting it in place with two seats in tandem config is proving difficult 😅

Only for the sake of training purposes.
Bombs for example, should only be training ones, meaning they shouldn't explode when they impact the ground since they don't have any explosive filler.

Hello dear Feather Wings. Is it possible to create your own plane, not a replica, but to assemble your fictional plane?
