Shortly before the invasion of france by germany, Louis Renault was looking forward to the new Blitzkrieg tactic employed by Germany, He decided to build a successor to the old Renault FT 17 which was still in service among the french army... He wanted a fast light tank who could be able to destroy Panzers III & IV .He created a hole new chassis as well as a new turret. The results were incredible, the tank entered service just in time to fight the germans in France. The FT-20 was armed with a new 47mm canon which proved to be more efficient than the one used by the Somua S35, even though its armor was not great, it's speed was impressive (63km/h)...

@AudioDud3 well, renault also made one of the first modern tank : the FT during ww1... along with the British Mark V they were pretty powerfull at that time
