Background (fictional):

GP1 is a twin engine propeller aircraft designed by Yagura Heavy Industries (YHI) during the dying years of WWII. The design was finalized in early 1945, but the first prototype was finished later that year, after the war had ended. Although it didn't make it in time to become the dominate aircraft that would win the war, the military still purchased this aircraft in large quantity due to its reliability, range, and heavy bomb load.

Early variants of GP1 possess nose and wing mounted guns, with a range of bombs, rockets, and gunpods that can be mounted under the fuselage and wings. Despite the size of the aircraft, GP1 is surprisingly maneuverable when all of its hanging ordinance is discarded, allowing the plane to join dogfights after bombing missions to maintain aerial superiority with its .50cal and 20mm. Later in the 1960s, GP1 received a wide range of modernization, replacing the machine guns with a single nose mounted 20mm Vulcan cannon and a wide range of different missiles. With the significantly added weight of the Vulcan concentrating of the nose of the aircraft, late variants of GP1 became very nose heavy and lost its maneuverability. It was later replaced with newer attacker-fighter jets and ended its service.

GP1f3 was the latest variant of GP1 before the major modernization. It still features a lot of the WWII weapon technology, and lacks any guided weaponry. The rockets and the accurate 37mm gunpod is the main ground pounding weaponry that GP1 is proud of. However pilots do complain that the bombs are generally useless because GP1 does not feature a bombing sight, and the speed of the aircraft is usually either too fast to get a good dive bombing run, or too slow to the point where the bomb will blow up the plane itself. With experience and good use of the airbreaks, however, the bombs can also deliver an annihilating strike to any ground targets.
