A few days ago, our SimplePlanes Discord Server SPCS hit the 300 members mark, so we had to do a big celebration event. This is what we came up with:
The Great SimplePlanes Dogfight Tournament
This is a big build event where a total of 16 teams have to build a jet fighter aircraft to compete against each other in 1v1 dogfights. The competitors have to find theirselves in small groups of 1-4 people. The teams have one week to build a fighter aircraft to fight against another team. After these seven days, two different fighters must compete against each other in an ai controlled dogfight. The first aircraft to get 3 kills gets to the next round. This continues until we have one final winner.
The 13 Commandments
- Every type of weapon is allowed, as long as they match with the other rules.
- max. Weapon Damage: 150%, max. Rounds per second: 30, min. Bullet spread: 0.5
- max. Missile count: 10, max. Locking degree: 180, max. Countermeasures count: 200
- max. Part Health: 150%
- width: 7-16 meters, height: 2.5-7 meters, length: 14-22 meters
- max. Speed: Mach 2 with afterburner (2500kmh/1550mph)
- No auto-aiming or auto-firing turrets
- Cannons are allowed but no explosive rounds
- No instant acceleration / deceleration (eg: 0-400mph in a second)
- min. Part count: 200, max. Part count: 500
- No prop planes, this is a jet fighter competition
- max. Part Count: 500 parts
- Thrust Vectoring is allowed! (Happy GuyFolk noise)
It‘s not really a rule, but please try to build a realistic looking plane. It will just look a bit off in the fight montages when there is a flying dragon or something like this. Thanks!

The Countdown and Fight Dates
The 14 Day Countdown starts tomorrow, the 22nd May at 12am CET, so the deadline is on the 5th June at 12am. The first Dogfights start at the 6th June at 6pm CET. There will be a Livestream on our Discord server. If you don’t have time to watch the livestream, I will upload a video of every dogfight on my YouTube channel.

Entire f.cking year...
So many things changed, but tournament still says "The first Dogfights start at the 6th June at 6pm CET" as if it's still 2021-05
..11 months later do you have time to finally complete this tournament.@DJ2keroni
Is this ever going to happen? You shouldn't start a tournament if you can't finish it, I put a lot of effort into my entry and now I can see it was for nothing. @DJ2keroni

@11qazxc If the planes aren't posted yet in like a week or so then yeah, they should be disqualified, but for now i'd give them one last chance
@TheRealKronos so, he sure that all teams will post planes 3 weeks after deadline?

I agree with @Rodrigo110 .
In other challenges and tournaments it works just like that.
If people haven't submitted before the deadline - you should automatically disqualify them and give the victory to the opponent and then go from there in the contest.@DJ2keroni
I can’t do the event if there are planes missing, I am sorry. I think I will just juggle the planes like in a normal challenge @Rodrigo110
