The DDG-999 USS Zumwalt VX-II

Envisioned as the cutting-edge precursor* to the revolutionary Zumwalt-class destroyers, serving as a testbed for advanced technologies. Designed with even more ambitious specifications than the DDG-1000, it aimed to push the limits of naval warfare innovation. However, the VX-II program faced a host of crippling issues that prevented it from progressing beyond the planning stage.

The ship's radar system was plagued by severe calibration problems, making target tracking inconsistent and unreliable. Its engine transmission system suffered from repeated breakdowns during simulated trials, leading to concerns over propulsion reliability. The general wiring throughout the vessel's design schematics was found to be overly complex and prone to failures, creating significant risks during high-stress operations.

These technical challenges, combined with escalating costs and a lack of faith in the project's feasibility, led to its cancellation. The lessons learned from the VX-II's failures, however, directly informed improvements in the DDG-1000 program, ensuring that the in-service USS Zumwalt and its successors would benefit from more reliable systems and streamlined designs. The VX-II remains a cautionary tale in naval innovation, highlighting the fine line between ambition and practicality.

Features:
• Zumwalt with weird proportions

@LunarEclipseSP I can post another one without those specifications but I'll just make another target instead, also is 9/11 stuff bad here? Because I'm gonna post a ship that just moves forward without any controls

@MsMuseumJanitor If you make it with even more lower parts, remove the control system, missiles, etc. That would make it more "surface target-able"
Take a look at this for an example

@LunarEclipseSP hmm.. what would be appropriate for satisfying you?

Also without the countermeasures and missiles it does have lower part count, I just forgot to set drag now it kinda freezes my device when spawning in.

Looks cool! But maybe the part could be lower again
