JAI-X008B Demantoid II
Improved version of unshared JAI-X8A Demantoid. The plane started out as an idea for hypno plane but it was too unstable to fly. Adding more conventional parts made it flyable but not very hypno. The shape of the finishded plane reminded me of gems, so the Demantoid was born.
Compared to the original, it's agility is enhanced by enlarging elevators. It's short field landing performance is improved with new tires with better traction and added air brakes. Bodywork has been modified to enclose the modified landing gear. A new livery completes the modifications.
I was able to complete Short Takeoff, Carrier Landing, Crosswind Landing and SAM Evasion Challenges with this plane. It has enough speed and manouverability to outturn and outrun even the best missile with full fuel tanks.
EDIT: you can do Short Landing as well. Set the engine thrust to 1% and when speed picks up, pitch up. Descent gently while keeping speed between 110 and 130 knots. When you are little bit above and ahead USS Tiny's deck, hit the brakes.
The improved Demantoid also excels in high power air races. My time in Ocean Speedway was 1:25 (1:50 for achievement), in Loopty Loop O 0:32 (A: 0:40) and in The Dragon 1:44 (A: 2:00).
As with previous version, normal controls + VTOL for strakes to trim planes attitude
It has realistic navigation (AG 1) and anti-collision lights (AG 2). AG 3 operates light on nose landing gear.
