LFG Roland D.II
2,113 Turdy1
8.0 years ago
After a fire gutted LFG's factory, production of the Roland D.I was ended in favor of the much improved D.II. A sleek design, the D.II was a fast aircraft for its time, but forward visibility was extremely poor, owing to the central pylon supporting the upper wing. Few saw action on the western front, but many would see use in Macedonia with Jastas 25 and 27. The design was also license-built by the Pfalz Flugzeugwerke. They were initially designated the Pfalz D.II, but would later be predesignated the Roland D.II (Pfal).
