Originally intended to intercept Allied bombers over America, the Macchi C.300 was designed to go high and fast. It was expected to intercept high altitude bombing raids with one important piece of technology: rockets. Using tech developed by the Germans at Peenemunde, and the scientists at the Istituto Romano di Missilistica, originally intended for ballistic missiles; using many wind tunnel tests; with delta wing tech from Germany; and with jet tech borrowed from German engineers, the C.300 can rocket at any threat at faster than the speed of sound! Many airman described flying the C.300 as "flying on a lightning bolt." Its mixed propulsion allows the C.300 to adapt to its situation. A jet engine can be used to fly to the target while using fuel economically, and a powerful rocket to improve performance in combat. The ability to cruise at high altitude and speed away from danger also makes the C.200 good for recon. Four 20mm auto cannons give it substantial firepower. 14x 127mm rockets in pods will finish off the more stubborn bombers.
