Main description

The Mk.V SPA H1-R1 is a self-propelled artilery tank that was made in the 80s, it was deemed as an excellent design and is still used as the workhorse for Poland's military roster of artilery pieces.

History

A need for new artilery pieces was created by the Poland military, the artilery that was used at the time was obsolete and considered to be not useful anymore due to age, then the MK.V SPA was created from the chassis of the H1 Heavy tank.

A production list of 300 vehicles were created, they ended production later on the 2000s, the last unit being made in 2003.

The MK.V SPA H1-R1 compares largely to the U.S M-109 self-propelled artilery, both are similar in design and size.
