A later heavy retrofit on the still oft used by this point Sturgeon platform, the Silverine was a workhorse of the AAB department for the time. This craft was designed initially around 1949 but was drastically altered by its release around 52'.

The main thing that those among the Bomber Corps recognized first was not the screaming afterburnered jet engine but the fact that the standard armament for the Silverine made it in fact, not a bomber.

This craft was a very bleeding edge day/night transonic medium range escort fighter that saw use in support roles guarding up detachments of similarly sped planes. For its time this craft saw itself kitted with some impressive equipment. Top of the line guided a2a munitions were installed into a retracting armament plate. (This was to make use of the as standard bay that the Sturgeon platform has.) State of the art avionics and propulsion machinery were also as standard.

The plane came about as a need was saw by command in AAB for a fighter that didn't require petitioning either the AAD or AAI branches for a unit. So they set up a temporary task group for a select group of people from both of those branches to come in and draw up a fighter using existing platforms in the AAB wheelhouse.

The result was a plane that was not free of its downsides due to the derivations it had from its parent craft. The Silverine was supposed to be faster, but its aerodynamics held it back. It was supposed to be more efficient but; see last sentence. So instead they went all in and gave her an afterburner set up to cram as much speed as they could at the time in the transonic range.

Regardless the plane was much loved and much modified since its initial deployment. It is appreciated by those its escorted as well as those who've flown and fought in it. During the first few Legault conflicts it was instrumental.

Silverine is meant to be flown most efficiently around the 25-30k ft area. It will need trim to reach that but once you're up there the afterburner is efficient enough to use to maintain flight. Expect speeds from 430+ to near 620 with afterburner in optimal conditions. This is carrier capable.
