A-3 Panther II

19.4k QuitePossiblyMangled  2.8 years ago

Intro:
In the past, the Cotherian Air Force preferred to use converted prop trainers and light aircraft to carry out attack missions. However, this changed with the beginning of the Asamian-Raidon War and the build up of large mercenary forces by neutral parties. With the threat of war looming overhead and the involvement of Cotherian companies in the war economy, Cotheria found itself lacking an long ranged aircraft capable of supporting their ground forces for extended periods of time.

In a time of desperation, Foxhound Industries was able to pull through with it's A-3 Panther II. Boasting 4800km of range, a 130mm tank cannon, and 10 hardpoints, the Panther was capable of punching through anything Cotherian enemies may field. Cotheria would purchase 48 of the aircraft in their first batch, with several export customers also purchasing the aircraft.

As of now, the A-3 has seen combat in the Panamanian Intervention of Suriname, where it supported ground troops in hunting down insurgents and took part in seek and destroy missions. The A-3 also had limited use in the Panamanian Civil War where it was used by both loyalist and military lead forces in their fight for control of Panama. It is currently in service with the Argentina Air Force, New California Republic, United Mercenary Force, and Cotherian Air Force.

Weapons Explained:
-Kh-29D: The Kh-29D is a Soviet Air to Surface missile using imaging infrared guidance to attack larger battlefield targets and infrastructure such as industrial buildings, depots and against ships up to 10,000 tonnes. It is best used against targets traveling in a straight line in a wide open space due to the missile's slow turning speed.

-Sudarshan laser-guided bomb: The Sudarshan LGB is an Indian laser guided bomb. Introduced in 2013, it is said to rival the American GBU-12 Paveway II in performance. As it is a laser guided bomb, the user will be required to maintain a lock until the bomb has made contact with the enemy. This can be done by circling around the enemy or dropping it close by.

-ZT-6 Mokopa: The ZT-6 Mokopa is a South African anti tank missile using a laser homing millimetre wave radar seeker to help the deliver it's explosive payload to the target. It is best used when flanking the enemy as the user will be able to make the most out of the missile's long range and fire and forget features.

-S-8 rocket: The S-8 is a versatile Soviet 80mm rocket with a long service history. 20 of these rockets can be carried by a single B-8M1 rocket pod, allowing the user to rain fire on targets. It is best used as a spray and pray weapon against ground targets such as bridges and vehicles.

-MAA-1B Piranha II: The MAA-1B Piranha II is a Brazilian short range air to air missile. Equipped with a dual-color seeker and capable of off boresight, the MAA-1B is a strong deterrent for any aircraft looking to take down the A-3.

Final Notes:
This build first started out from me fooling around with a T-4 cockpit I recently built and my Subassemblies. After a few days of messing around with the aircraft, I fell in love with it. The majority of the A-3 parts came from my previous builds, such as the wings from my A-2B, the landing gear from my F-6, and the tank cannon from my T-21K.

Since majority of the build came from different aircraft, I wanted to do the same with the weapons. I tried to take weapons from all over the world, such as the South African ZT-6 or the Brazilian MAA-1B. However due to player response from play testing, I sadly replaced had to replace the original Hydra 70 rockets with the S-8.

This plane has been done for months now, but I couldn't find anyone to help me take screenshots for it. Thanks to soldier289 for the screenshots and Bernkastel for the cockpit. I hope you enjoyed my A-3 Panther II and remember, have a great day or not, the choice is yours.

One of the best planes I have ever flew, great weaponry, that cannon is more of a emegency brake in my opinion and it can also self distruct if you shoot the Sudtashan at high speeds :) Overall great plane 😀

It’s been so long since I finish building it I forgot who asked to be tagged. I took the tags from my two teasers and probably missed a few people. Thanks for the upvote and support tho! @Bobyo

@QuitePossiblyMangled I didn't ask to get tagged? Thought I did. I like it. It has a nice modern P-38 type look, and overall, should scare the enemy.
