Royal Sovereign-Class Guided Missile Battleship
Royal Sovereign-Class guided missile battleship:
Launch Date 1957
Armament: 4x2 20" main guns, 8x2 5.25" Dual Purpose guns, 2x Longbow anti ship missile twin launchers, 6x Archer surface to air missile launchers, various 40mm autocannons (non-functional)
Armour: 17" belt inclined at 8 degrees, 8" deck, 20" barbettes, 24" turret faces
History: A revision of Telosian postwar battleship designs, to the provision of the need to incorporate guided missiles. Many of the lessons learnt from the refitting of the Illustrious-Class battlecruiser in 1956 were incorporated in to the revised design. The result is a ship that has been somewhat enlarged amidships to incorporate magazine spaces for the new missile systems, as well as improvements to fire control systems to better handle the new weapons systems. The main and secondary armaments have remained intact, resulting in a ship that has a far heavier emphasis on artillery power than other ships of her era. Four ships have been built to the class, Royal Sovereign, Conqueror, Indomitable, and Revenge.
Controls:
Steering is linked to roll control. Throttle is throttle. Pitch and yaw does nothing.
All weapons are traversed with VTOL, and elevated with TRIM.
AG1 unlocks the forward main turret traverse
AG2 unlocks the aft main turret traverse
AG3 unlocks main battery elevation, and arms all main guns.
AG4 Unlocks and arms the secondary turrets, as well as unlocking and arming the SAM battery (Note, only VTOL down will traverse the secondary turrets.)
AG5 Unlocks and arms the cruise missile battery.
NOTE: Steering engines are not working properly, so here is a fix: Inside the ship near the front and back are some engines facing the side of the ship. On all of the engines on the LEFT side, toggle the invert setting. The ones at the front should be switched to invert off, and the ones at the back should be switched to invert on. This should solve the rather glacial turn rate.
Each main turret, as well as two of the SAM launchers, has a camera installed. There are also cameras following 4 of the 8 main gun shells.
This ship is not built to a true to life scale. I'm not exactly sure what she's really built to, probably about 3/5s scale. She does however match the Illustrious-Class in scale, so the two can sail together. (If it doesn't melt your computer...) Built more or less to the WWII British style, with the Vanguard, and Lion classes serving as inspiration. (Also Conqueror from WOWS) The main turrets do seem more American than British however. Obviously a fictional design. Best way I can describe her design philosophy is basically if battleships hadn't been quite so heavily trounced by carriers, so gun based ships remain more relevant in the Cold War even as first gen missiles enter the scene. Not the most realistic scenario ever, but good enough to make a ship. Hope you enjoy!

@MDDJB
I’m not quite sure I follow what you mean.
@MDDJB Thanks. I'm glad you approve.
@Boeing777x No problem, it's a good idea.
@MarshallLewisAerospace It might be better if you used the parts from the hull on the deck as well as the bridge and turrets, the hull parts are hard to get in the screenshots.
@MarshallLewisAerospace Sounds great. I'm glad you like my offer. ;)
@Boeing777x I'll keep that idea in mind as a future project idea.
@MDDJB I'll look in to that. There will probably be an updated version in the not too distant future. Especially since there are some other details I've forgotten to add as well.
@MDDJB I was actually just offering it to @MarshallLewisAerospace as a request.
Great build, have you tried adding some zoning lines to the deck? This looks more detailed.
@Boeing777x Great idea, have you started building already?
Hello, I have an idea for a new gigantic modern looking flying boat much bigger than your ML-422 pegasus flying boat. It would have 5 passenger decks, a cockpit in a similar position as the Airbus A380, and would be powered by 10 GE9X size engines. Does that sound awesome to you? 😀
