Fictional History
Even at the beginning, everyone know that the Great Southern War was going to be unlike any other war. Nordenvok, desperate to break through the stalemate of early trench warfare, decided to try to utilize the new technology of aeroplanes. Their notion was not to bomb the trenches, for this was deemed less than a success with the first hand bombs, but with gunnery.
They paired down one their anti-personnel motors, increased its firing rate, and placed it along side a quick firing machinegun. The system was dubbed the blunderbuss, and a somewhat cheaply made small airframe, the NV-202e, was built to test it.
Doubling up on the experiments, the Nv-202e was equipped with a very new type of engine that vented exhaust ventrally through an forced air system, while other planes still vented dorsally. The engine was one of the most powerful of the times and ahead of the curve in many respects, but still had stalling issues in vertical climbs. The Nv-202e was also equipped with a new style of wing, thin and long and ever so slightly swept. While many of its features would be echoed in future aircraft, The Nv-202e was never really meant to take the stress of sudden maneuvers, and many early pilots considered it a wily and sometimes unpredictable ride.
Perhaps overconfident in their design, or perhaps pressed to turn the tide of war as quick as possible, the Nv-202e was sent to the front line. It was not the success the generals had hoped for. Stability issues, inaccuracy of the scattershot cannon, and not being designed as a pure dogfighter lead to many dozens of Nv-202e being shot down.
Pilots and ground troops alike nicknamed the Nv-202e the Blunderbust, a name which would stick with it long after war. The Nv-202e would be decommissioned in late 1913 as the race for better aircraft technology began to accelerate.
Operations
So I tried to pair down the speed, but the AI can still get it to way too fast (160ish), so I tried to explain this in the text. Hope this isn't a problem for the challenge. I tried to weigh this buff with a nice WWI stall if you try to climb straight up.
Human Flight: careful with the pitch, it will punish you if you are not careful.
Camera 1: kind of at pilot level, look down slightly to see my cockpit. Still can't get any of my speedometers to work, so you'll have to live with a moving stick and some pretty lights. Don't use original cockpit view as is hidden just behind the engine.
