Martin Aeronautics X-1 Nautilus

Introducing the Martin Aeronautics X-1 Nautlius!
The name “X-1” signifying the first experimental fighter jet platform for Martin Aeronautics to produce.
While the design appears to be very unorthodox for most jet fighters, the team at M.A. took inspiration from the famous English Electric Lightning, (namely the over and under jet engine design).
The X-1 doesn’t boast any impressive flight performance to set itself apart from other jet fighters. It does however excel in one area, climb rate. This aircraft would likely not be able to fly hardly at all if it weren’t for its 1:1 power to weight ratio! This really is a demonstration that adding enough power to even the heaviest, least aerodynamic objects will allow for “flight” to occur. This is however the first design of M.A. and the team hopes to improve on future models and aims to create some of the most insane aircraft of this generation. In some ways, we are attempting to become the next “Burt Rutan”.

This is further proof, alongside the F-4, that with enough thrust anything will fly.

Definitely fun and whimsical. Now the X-1 needs to make it to operational service with some crappily ineffective beam-riding missiles (and gun???) and for goodness sake…a cockpit view!
