Tu-144 is the world's first supersonic passenger aircraft developed by the Tupolev Design Bureau of the Soviet Union. Its first flight in 1968 was at a maximum flight speed of Mach 2.15 and a passenger capacity of about 150 people. It adopts a triangular wing layout, but it has problems such as high noise, poor comfort, high fuel consumption and high operating costs. The 1973 Paris Air Show crash further affected its reputation. Tu-144 began to serve in 1975, stopped passenger transport in 1978, and completely withdrew from commercial operations in 1983. Despite its technological groundbreaking, it failed to achieve commercial success due to economic and security issues.
