Breda Ba.87 'Zanzare'
(Fictional Story)
In late 1943 the Italian Air Force required a fighter/attacker with a superior range, the modifed G.55S and the Ba.87 entered the competition,as the successor of the disappointing Ba.88,the Ba.87 performed well.
It was powered by two powerful 1500hp engines, equipped with two 30mm cannons and a pair of heavy machine guns the Ba.87 was not only a well-performed ground attacker but also a respectable opponent in medium-ranged engagements.
The massive airframe did led to negative effects on the overall maneuverbility. But that also means it could carry more internal fuel, makes it an excellent escort fighter.however, considering there were few bombers left in Italy, the definitive role of the aircraft was actually an high- altitude interceptor.Though a large fuel tank was attached to the aircraft.
It was nicknamed 'Zanzare',which means 'mosquito' in English——
