Taikav T-1 scout
for anti-airs alpine aircraft challenge!
history
The T-1 scout was a high speed interceptor used for the us military during ww2. Armed with 4 powerful 50.cal machine guns, it was able to rip apart any opponent that crossed its path. Entering service in late 1944, its combat record is not notably high but was able to prove the taikav company as a solid aircraft manufacturer.
development:
The development of this aircraft started all the way back in 1940 when the US military was looking for an all new alpine fighter, interceptor, or bomber. The taikav company initially set out to make a fighter aircraft, arming it with 4 50.cal machine guns, and one of there most powerful engines of the time. But during flight testing the aircraft was deemed to unmaneuverable to be a fighter, so it was changed to an interceptor, making lift the main priority of the aircraft, so the main wings were enlarged an extra 10 feet.
performance:
The performance is suitable for boom and zoom tactics rather than all out dogfighting. The maneuverability makes it not as ideal for alpine maneuvering but it was a capable interceptor that was absolutely needed, so it was pushed into service in late 1944. It was noted soon that this aircraft was best suited for airports over looking a cliff as its took to long to get to its takeoff speed, making it prone to stall and crash.
combat history:
Although it was pushed into service late in the war, it saw plenty of action in both the Alaska wilderness, and in Europe. In total the confirmed areal victory count is 472, with the majority being bombers.
controls
Normal flight controls
VTOL down- flaps (more for show, don't really help the aircraft, rather it hurts it)
Ag1- fold wings
Ag2- open canopy (my first opening canopy!)

BUILDERS NOTE: this is a fun little aircraft that I enjoyed making. I tried to get the stall speed as slow as I could but only could get it to around 80mph, and takeoff speed is at 150mph. I like how it came out and hope you do as well!

Review
I flew the aircraft multiple times and learned what it can, and what it can't do. Speed is excellent, armament is very potent, and while it was said to have bad maneuverability, it performs moderately well for the speed and armament it has. The plane has a slightly longer than I wish it had for runway take-off. the paneling is absolutely gorgeous. I have some criticism for the airfoil and wing construction, but it still works fine (Custom surfaces!). However, what truly is the Achilles heel here is the terrible gears. I can't even land at slightly negative attack angles without it pitching forward and blowing up. Either landings are very gentle, low speed, and on smooth terrain, or it needs a lot of runway. This makes it nearly impossible to land due to the small wheels, weak springs, and not enough surface for proper brakes

@tsampoy thanks for the spot buddy!
@PapaKernels no probs! Just pointing stuff out as the main features of the challenge are, indeed, being able to take off from a mountain slope and land back
@AntiAirNuri it needs to be slow and gentle, sorry I haven't specified, stall speed is pretty low so that's what it would have to be. When your landing at the slower speed its landing distance is greatly diminished, I probably should have warned about this. Thanks for the review.
Pretty dope little dude!
