Prismarine Aerial Defense System: Mobile Tracking Station

200 T1TridentFighter  2.7 years ago

Overview

The PADS Mobile Tracking Station is a large truck with a Chromium Tracking Array on the flatbed. This tracking array is critical to searching, locating, tracking, and passing information to missile batteries which launch ground-to-air missiles that destroy intruders. This mobility allows for tracking in off-road areas, such as in foreign territory, times of conflict, and areas not covered by stationary arrays. It has a high success rate of 91%.

The Chromium Tracking Array was announced as a replacement for the aging VIGILANCE-7, which was susceptible to various breakdowns, flaws, and was heavy and expensive. First produced in 2008, it was placed in stationary tracking stations, before the Trident Union Defense Force purchased multiple flatbed trucks. With many modifications, the array was placed on the back of the truck, along with an operating station with robust electronics and great tracking capabilities.

A driver will drive the truck to a designated place of deployment. Here, it will be deployed with stabilization legs, which give it superb stability in the hills of the Trident Union. Meanwhile, the Array Operation Officers will operate the Array, which will transmit information to a nearby PADS Battery. This will be used to successfully eliminate targets using guided missiles.

Operation Guide

It’s a bit long, because I have absolutely no clue what I’m doing, but it works.

General Driving

Use pitch and roll to drive the truck to any location you wish. The truck is designed for off road travel, and it has a strong engine for steep climbs. Before this, it is best to “stow” the array by activating AG4, sliding VTOL all the way up, and once the array has stopped moving, turning off AG4 and putting VTOL back to its original position.

Deployment

Step 1: Activate AG1 and slide VTOL all the way up. This will deploy the stabilizing legs along with raise the Chromium Array. Step 2: Turn off AG1, and then slide VTOL to the default position. This will lock the array and legs.
Step 3: Turn on AG2, and use VTOL and Trim to turn the array. VTOL will turn the array in any direction, and trim will tilt it skywards.

Tracking

Step 1 Switch to the “Chromium Array” camera. Turn on air-to-air, and use the array’s controls as mentioned above to keep your target within this circle.
Step 2: Maintain a steady lock on the target by keeping it in the circle.

Stowing

Step 1: Slide both VTOL and Trim to it’s default position.
Step 2: Turn off AG2 once the array has returned to its original raised position. Turn on AG1.
Step 3: Once the array has lowered and the stabilizing legs are raised, turn off AG1. Now, turn on AG4.
Step 4: Slide VTOL all the way up and wait as the array moves as far forward as possible.
Step 5: Turn off AG4 and return VTOL to it’s default position. Now, you can drive the truck to it’s parking area, or to a new spot.

For VR…

For driving, use the “Driver” seat. For deployment, tracking, and stowing, switch to the Array Operation Officer #1 and Array Operation Officer #2 (the two external seats). Here, you can use the instruments to conduct the same procedures.

Other Information

Personally, I enjoy using this to see how long I can track a plane with. Since the targeting radius is small, you have to adjust the array’s position to successfully lock onto the plane.
Also, be sure not to fire the interceptor. It does launch a missile, and it does destroy the plane, but it also proceeds to disable the array.
The fuselages aren’t super clean, because I have no clue how to use them half the time. Also, there is no suspension or proper truck-y stuff… I have absolutely no expertise in this. This is my first post, and I’ll probably come out with the actual ground-to-air missile launcher soon.
Hope you enjoy!
