A.A.I RF-44A Dagger
The Dagger is a two-seat Recon Special Operation Deep strike aircraft designed to carry heavy and unconventional weaponry as well as high-speed Recon and be a testbed aircraft for Anima Research And Development (ARAD). It is built to carry a newly modified version of the feared AIM-54 Phoenix missile which was carried by the Tomcat, as well as carry a Recon Pod designed for taking pictures at high speed. It will take part in the Intruder War only a few times due to it's high cost.
The development for the Dagger was no where near easy. Thanks to the heavy weight and low mobility, it lost it's original intent as a Recon Heavy Fighter. Then it's low stability of the YRF-11 prototype led to five crashes with 4 crew in total (two-seater). Maintaining the plane is also a nightmare, with a high maintenance cost and difficult to reach areas, the Dagger will take a while to repair and get back up in the air. The Dagger is also particularly difficult to land as you got to stay at around 45% throttle to avoid stalling and deploy airbrakes when 3ft away from the ground.
Only ten aircraft were made and production is slowed due to high cost.
5,100,000,000 yen was the final cost.
Researchers are currently redeveloping the aircraft.
This is Anima's 1st special production aircraft.
