Main description
The FB-57 Armadillo is an fighter-bomber aircraft made by Lockheed, it is made as a successor to the P-39 as a more heavy equipped variant, it's features differing from the P-38 is a new cockpit design, wings, and much more, the FB-57 is also designed to do reconnaissance missions, making it having more purposes than the P-38 in the between together.
History
Nearing the end of World War 2, a proposal, the FB-57, was made and was accepted by the U.S Air Force. A production order of 200 aircraft were made, in prototype stage, the aircraft was deemed to be impressive due to its capabilites, however when World War 2 ended, it was used as a reserve aircraft, and was used in the Korean War. In pilots experiences flying it, it was a good aircraft, able to outmanuver Mig-15s easier than said. It is also used as a bomber escort in variants with a far more powerful engine. When the Korean War was over, it was retired in its fighter-bomber roles but remained as reconnaissance aircraft until the jet age arrived.
