The Pond Racer was designed by Scaled Composited and commissioned by Bob Pond to compete at the Reno Air Races. The reason why is because vintage aircraft such as P-51 Mustangs and Hawker Sea Furys were being crashed and destroyed and their engines were being damaged beyond repair. The Pond Racer was meant to be an alternative to preserve these aircraft. The problem was it lost races due to multiple mechanical failures. But it still looks cool!
