After the fall of Imperialist Russia, the young Soviet Union is having trouble with its new economic system in 1921. So it directed Kalinin to build a multipurpose aeroplane, Kalinin suggested the Kalinin K-2 as it can carry passengers, haul cargo and carry any bombs in that era. The soviet government agreed to the project and lent money to Kalinin. in 1923, Kalinin finished the plane and first took off on 14th October 1923 in Moscow, Russia. However, because of how heavy the plane is, it can barely lift itself up above 5000ft. Kalinin only sold 12 planes, most of which went to the Soviet Government before ending production.
