The B-51 Swiftjet was a postwar bomber produced by Boeing that first flew in November 1945. A precursor to the more successful B-47 Stratojet, the B-51 was a testbed for the General Electric TG-170 turbojet engines, themselves a predecessor to the B-47's TG-180 turbojets. The Swiftjet project was cancelled about six months after the aircraft's first flight due to poor performance during tests and progress on the company's B-47 project.
