Flugtag- Naval Dreams Arent Made of These
*Background
Made by six idiots in Texas, who were in the US Navy. Inspired by the early all metal monoplanes of the late thirties, it took months of work only for the result to look like literal trash. This mess of PVC body, Balsa Wood wings, Ailerons made of foam, and the cockpit of an RC plane should not have been able to fly, but it did. Made of scrap, it also had a carrier style launcher that had a tendency to yeet itself and the plane.
Information
Material: PVC, Balsa, Foam, Fishing Wire, Some cockpit off an RC Plane, a lot of spray paint
Initial non controlled test saw mixed successes, as numerous incidents led to damage of the tug and glider, the max distance being around 1500 feet. However, on adding what little controls, distance was around 10k with a max of ~16000.
