Rockford F-127 Copperback
Description
Designed in the 1970s to complement the General Dynamics F-111A fleet in the ground attack role, the Copperback is a force to be reckoned with. Capable of supercruise at Mach 1.04 above 15,000ft and with a top speed of Mach 1.8, this aircraft can reach its target and engage before they realise they are being hunted. It comes fully equipped with ELINT systems and pods built in.
If the mounted ordnance doesn't suffice, the airframe also has an M61A2 Vulcan built into the payload bay firing at 3600 Rounds Per Minute, and capable of tearing apart ground and air targets alike.
Features:
- All-moving Tailplane for Pitch and Roll control
- Realistic underbelly cannon ( working recoil and smoke)
- Full Countermeasures Suite
- Realistic Afterburner
- Smooth Flight Performance
- Predictable landing characteristics down to 250mph and below.
Controls:
AG-1: Sweep wings forward (starts swept back)
AG-1 + VTOL DOWN: Deploy wing spoilers
AG-2: Redundant
AG-3: Redundant
AG-4: Engage Afterburner
AG-5: Deploy Landing Parachute
AG-6: Redundant
AG-7: Redundant
AG-8: Redundant
Warnings:
- This aircraft is a pre-Fly By Wire design, and as such heavy inputs on controls are to be avoided. Do not make hard inputs with pitch or roll when the Trim indicator is at greater than 50%.
- The aircraft can be unstable at low airspeeds. Avoid sharp inputs below 500mph.
- The airframe was built for speed and agility, and as such is not capable of absorbing multiple hits. Avoid taking direct AAA fire where possible.
This will likely be the last complex aircraft I publish. Following the T-24C's almost total failure to be noticed, and my current lack of time for designing, I can no longer justify spending large amounts of time designing aircraft. I'll still build and publish occasionally, but the designs will focus more on styling and less on functions like custom control surfaces (all-moving tails notwithstanding) and other more complex features.
This was originally going to be my entry for Dinoairplanes' Ground Attack Challenge but I decided against it.
Adieu!

@MrHoboDuck You say that, but look at how little attention the build garnered.
Problem is that this site feels... niché-y. If it ain't a replica or by an established builder... it seems to go by unnoticed. I have that problem, at least.
Lol I wish I could build like this
@Sadboye12 Thanks! It was a nightmare getting the wings to work reliably, every time I made certain changes it broke the variable sweep functionality. Glad you liked it.
very neat!
