Maksimov-Zakharchenko MaZ-13 "Svetlyak"

TheMaksimov-Zakharchenko MaZ-13 "Svetlyak" (lit. Firefly) is a twin-engine monoplane bomber designed by Maksimov-Zakharchenko Aeronautics Company for the Alyaskan Imperial Air Force (AVVS) in 1935. It was the first Alyaskan monoplane bomber designed as a part of the air power regeneration program, a complement of the So-4 Sokol fighter. It is designated as a medium assault bomber, a type of bomber designed to outrun its pursuers in order to conduct its missions in exchange for limited defensive firepower.

The first Svetlyak variant is powered by two Krupin 1150 hp F1-500 air-cooled radial engine, giving the Svetlyak a great speed and acceleration. It is crewed by three: pilot, assistant pilot, and rear gunner. It is armed with 2 × 20 mm RSh-20A/32 tank-mounted autocannon and 2 × 13 mm AvP-29U machine guns. It only has one defensive armament; a single 13 mm AvP-29U machine gun located on its rear with limited range. At most, the Svetlyak could carry 2 × BON-500 500 kg bombs inside its bomb bay and 8 × BON-100 100 kg bombs on its wings. It is also equipped with a bomb sight operated by the assistant pilot/bombardier.
