Design
It's basically the same as the other one but now it has a radar installed inside of it and has a radar in the canopy. The design inspirations are more or less the same except that this plane has some design inspiration from that one hellcat that had a radar installed on it.
Obviously this is a bit ad hoc and in truth I just wanted to make a night fighter but I didn't want to make a new airplane so I wanted to just rehash it.
Armament includes 4x type 99-2 mod 1s (20mm) and 4x Ho-103 12.7mm. Reasonable firepower but it cannot dog fight whatsoever. Admittedly though it's designed to intercept the bombers and most bombers do not engage in high g turning fights.
Lore!
The Heroinashiba Hi-72 (Allied Reporting Name; Night Nimrod) was a modification of the regular Hi-71 for night operations. This was required due to lancasters and other sorts of British bombers assaulting the Japanese islands and positions in 1943.
While this was designed as an interim fighter it served until the end of the war. Performance was mixed whilst it had a high altitude and could easily intercept threats and had a potent armament it was incredibly hard for the single pilot to operate both the radar (which proved unreliable and the best of times) and fly and fight.
Ultimately the fighter will go on and prove itself to be an interesting design born out of the requirements to defend the islands.
Ok lore over (musssssicman)
I hope you enjoy.
