Crushable Paletized Lander
Tactical system entrant in spefyjerbf's Weapon Design Challenge.
The Crushable Paletized Lander is designed to drop out of a perfectly good airplane in the hopes of inserting your ground based equipment in a location most disadvanageous to the enemy.
Built from the cheapest grade recycled aluminum we could find (really we just melt down the beer cans from the shop recycling bin) so its kinda green in a way (not to mention the paint job...). Seriously though, you're dropping this out of an aircraft, so why waist the good stuff. AG2 releases four large parachutes (don't worry we didn't skimp on these). The 'chutes are capable of righting the Lander even if it gets all topsy-turvy so don't worry about mounting equipment with a high center of gravity... It'll work out (we think). With it's energy attenuating spring system, the lander is tested for payloads up to 7000lbs (at max weight, 80% of the time it works all the time). We highly suggest waiting to open the 'chutes at a low altitude (approx 400 ft AGL) to give the enemy less time to break your stuff as well as preventing you from getting bored while watching it slowly float to the ground. Once safely on the ground, AG3 will release your equipment allowing the attachment point to fall out of the way. AG3 also activates the ramp which is lowered using VTOL down. Just for the purpose of demonstration AG4 will fire up the motor on the "wheeled demonstration brick" to show you how it offloads. Replace this with your own equipment and associated functionality. Enjoy dropping stuff!
