SPJ-38C (Spacecraft's areodynamic testing Platform Jet powered aircraft, deaign No.38-C) nicknamed "Red Lightning" or "Little Red Lightning" is a heavily modified American WW2 era twin-boom fighter "P-38 Lightning". It was modified by NASA to test many modern areodynamic design concepts in a subsonic and transonic flight and high-G maneuver. It was painted red to be the main attraction at several air shows.
