"Dongfanghong-1" China's First Earth Satellite
"Dongfanghong-1" satellite, the first man-made earth satellite launched by China, was successfully launched in Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on April 24, 1970, which ushered in a new era of China's aerospace history, making China the fifth country in the world to independently develop and launch man-made earth satellites after the Soviet Union, the United States, France and the future. The "Dongfanghong-1" satellite weighs 173 kilograms, and is sent into the elliptical orbit at a perigee of 441 kilometers, an apogee of 2368 kilometers, and an inclination of 68.44 degrees by the Long March No. 1 carrier rocket. It measured the satellite engineering parameters and the space environment, and carried out orbit measurement and control and the broadcasting of "Dongfanghong" music. After 28 days of operation of the "Dongfanghong-1" satellite (designed life is 20 days), the battery was exhausted and the signal was stopped on May 14, 1970. The "Dongfanghong" music stopped playing, ending its working life. However, the orbital life of the satellite has not ended, and the "Dongfanghong-1" satellite is still in space orbit.
