B-17G Flying Fortress
B-17 Flying Fortress Pilots Operating Handbook This Aircraft is simply amazing, I attend a pilot school at the same airfield as EAA’s B-17 “Aluminum Overcast” rests for the winter and has maintenance done on it, the amazing KOSH (Oshkosh). I was able to tour the airplane with my friends and it was one of the most fun things I had ever done. Sitting behind some of the gunner positions, climbing through the tail, and sitting at the yolk of a classic World War World II era bomber. This Plane was created with the help of the Overload and Fine Tuner mods V-Speeds Approach: 150 at 40% power Rotation: 160 Stall (Clean): 110 Stall (Dirty): 95 Cruise: 230 Maneuvering: She won’t break 😊 Let her rip Max Structural cruise: 280 Never Exceed Speed: 330 Gunner Positions VTOL controls the side to side movements. TRIM controls the up and down aiming. Each camera corresponds to the same activation group Example: (Camera 2, Top Turret, Activation group 2) Camera 1: Nose turret Camera 2: Top Turret Camera 3: Ball Gunner Camera 4: Left Waist Gunner Camera 5: Right Waist Gunner Camera 6: Tail gunner Flaps & Trim Flaps are a controlled by the TRIM Down function and activation group 7. This B-17 is equipped with elevator trim. Trimming is accomplished by activating activation group 1 and either pitching up or down on the yolk to move the trim control surfaces and deactivating Activation group 1 again. Once deactivated, whatever position the control surface was in will lock into place. Don’t worry, there is separate control surfaces for regular pitching motions. Bombing: The bomb bay consists of 27 (500 pound) bombs. They are arranged into 3 separate racks Top rack: Activation 8 Middle rack: Activation 7 Low rack: Activation 6 Open the bomb bay with activation group 6 and to access the lowest rack of 500 pound bombs. Drop the payload and activate the next rack (Activation 7), followed by the last rack (Activation 8). Have fun and destroy some stuff!
