Old Engine Challenge [CLOSED]
Welcome!
Congrats on participating in my old engine challenge! Your goal is to make the fastest plane with the old SP prop engine.
The old engine is provided in the download
Scoring
Planes will be scored on their max speed. ONLY 2 ENGINES ARE PERMITTED
One Engine: Maximum recorded GS
Two Engines: Max GS x 0.9 (Details in RULES)
Poor handling may result in a reduction up to 40pts out of 100pts
Pts for speed will be determined by the number of participants in this challenge.
Im an idiot. Change the drag and mass scales of the engine to 1 before building.
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
Rules
Planes must be either a successor of this post OR a direct link commented.
Planes may only have up to two engines
Scoring engines: This rule was put in place to make competition between twin and single engines fair. A single engine plane max speed was 207mph. A twin engine plane max speed was 230mph. 207 / 230 = 0.9 I worked out that twin engine planes may still be faster with this.
Planes must not be over 600 pts, idk why it would be that high
No XML modding engines, drag pts, or weight
No scaling of any kind
No exploiting glitches old engines or any parts may have
Landing gear are NOT required
Rewards
1st place - 30 upvotes
2nd place - 20 upvotes
3rd place - 10 upvotes
my favorite gets all of their builds upvoted and 8 pts (i will regret that)
Deadline April 25
Enjoy the challenge and good luck to you all!

Make sure you change the scales of the engines to 1
My kind of ideal planes
https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/xMLjTs/Twin-Engine-Idea-Ugly-but-fast
https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/9JA1bJ/Ideal-Single-Engine-Plane
try this
@trios21 idk, just make what feels comfortable. you dont need su27 handling, preferably not, but just smooth and responsive motions
@MetalManiac54 i ment like how do i make better handling
@trios21 i think that your plane did not have poor handling, but anyway, really fast roll, almost no pitch, or any combination of those
whats poor handling
Here is the link to mine https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/nNf8IE/Og-plane-old-engine-challenge
@trios21 yes
in game nudging is allowed right?
this one can be scored: http://www.simpleplanes.com/a/12V84y/old-engien-thing-v4
@trios21 you can make as many as you want, but only one will be represented in the scores
@11qazxc glitches as in bugs that make you obtain more speed of less drag. GS is measured by how fast your plane can fly until it stops speeding up. weighted gs = .9 x weighted gs, only if you have a twin aircraft. by no xml, i mean no using any kind of multipliers or scales that may be used to decrease weight, drag, or increase speed in any way.
can we do more than one plane/entry?
What is counted as "glitches"?
How max GS will be measured?
Max plane size limit?
What if i edit in-game designer instead of editing xml?
What if i edit designer's preferences instead of xml?
What is Unweighted GS and Weighted GS in results table?
@trios21 you can use whatever cockpit you want and you can size scale it
can we still use the same cockpit?
anyone in the challenge can it exceed 225kias? i tried everything, but the engine have more drag than thrust xD
@ZHUAREVONI funny funny
lol
@GuyFolk thanks very much. i am an idiot
@MetalManiac54
The engine you provided in the download was 0.5 drag and mass.
But I make 2 version anyway if you want to test the x0.5 and x1 mass and drag.
i have join the challenge and i made jh corsair pretty much small
@Kangy ok thats fine
