AH-64 armed helicopter is the product of the advanced armed helicopter program (Aah) proposed in 1973. Prior to the AAH program, the U.S. Army implemented the advanced air fire support system (AAFSS) program, but the program was too ambitious. After a lengthy and expensive research and development process, it was cancelled on August 9, 1972. The US Army reviewed the reasons for its failure and soon proposed a practical alternative, AAH. Unlike armed helicopters, whose primary task is to accompany ground forces and provide fire support, AAH is defined as an anti tank missile that can carry anti tank missiles, considering making up for the deficiency of fixed wing attack aircraft in anti tank capability and eliminating the huge disadvantage of NATO countries in the number of army armored forces compared with Warsaw Pact countries on the European battlefield Professional anti tank armed helicopter that pays special attention to hunting hard targets and multi-target engagement capability.
