Background
The Nahash 1A4 (Serpent in Hebrew) is a medium armored Tank destroyer/ MGS designed in 1987 entirely in Israel.
The Nahash was born after a need for a nimble and well-armed tank destroyer was felt in the IDF. Armed with a 115mm autoloading cannon, it can destroy enemy tanks from one position and quickly move to another. The hull derived from a previous project for an APC that never took off.
The engine is placed on the right side to accommodate the Bustle autoloader-Gun assembly, and to maximize the space inside the hull.
The gunner sits on the right side of the turret,while the commander sits on the left side and can operate the 13.2×98mm Mg outside the Nahash.
8 wheeler, it is adapted to the desert environment of Israel and has no problem with off-roading, although crews have reported a stiffer than usual suspension.
