yak 15
The Yakovlev Yak-15 (in Cyrillic characters ??????? ??-15, designation DoD Type 2, codenamed NATO Feather [2]) was a single-engine straight-wing jet fighter aircraft designed by the OKB 115 directed by Aleksandr Sergeevic Jakovlev and developed in the Soviet Union in the late 1940s. Used in the following years by the Sovetskie Voenno-vozdušnye sily (VVS), the Soviet Air Force, remained operational from 1947 to the early 1950s until its progressive replacement with the subsequent Yak-17. Derived from the previous propeller Yak-3, the Yak-15 was the first jet fighter built in the Soviet Union. It was one of the few fighters, among which the Saab 21R, to be a conversion of a successful model equipped with a piston engine, but was less successful than its equal role Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-9, made subsequently; the I-300, the prototype of the latter, presented on the same day, was flown two hours earlier, based on the outcome of the toss of a coin
