Douglas SBD Dauntless

5,473 gadg3tmusic  3.0 years ago

Build by Douglas Aircraft in 1940, the SBD (scout bomber Douglas) Dauntless was the most widely-deployed dive bomber in the US Navy. With specially designed flaps for extreme G-pulling and slow dive bombing, the Dauntless was rugged, maneuverable, and effective in its service in WWII while sinking four Japanese carriers in the battle of Midway.

New plane for you guys! I've been wanting to make this one for a while, and I think the results were pretty nice. This was a fun project to take on whilst taking a break from updating the Zero, and I feel my skills with making planes are improving with every build. Enjoy :)

@Bellcat for self-defence, for strafing and for suppressing the target so it has hard time shooting back.

Beautiful replica. Would have maybe liked a darker or light blue like it normally has. The black hides alot, and its a really well made aircraft

@Bellcat well if their getting attacked, dont yoy think it would be good to make sure they can shoot a plane heading right at them? Just saying.

That’s pretty nice plane. Mobile friendly either. I don’t know why the SBD Dauntless have a frontal armament, maybe to make them act like fighter bombers?
