A-40 Havoc II Fighter-Attack Aircraft (MOST OP AIRCRAFT CHALLENGE)
The A-40 Havoc II... Redone!
Lore (ping @MatPat)
Some time around the year 2075, the A-10 is ever nearing retirement with no successor to take its place, and rising threats like the F-67G are nearing. However, in a rare event that hasn't occurred since the B-17 Flying Fortress, several aerospace companies have joined together to make this monstrosity of an airframe.
The result is death with wings.
Built with heavy armor, insane weaponry, and powerful engines, the A-40 proves a worthy successor to all attack planes predating it, and it shall continue to further the American dream with several thousands of tons of freedom.
And yes, I'll be taking those Tu-4s and your oil back for America 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Design
If the A-40 looks familiar, you're right, just maybe not in the right way; This plane was of course named and somewhat modeled after the A-20 Havoc (I). However, the main inspiration behind the plane's actual design was the YA-9, competitor of the A-10. This aircraft also has the engine-bottom fins of the F-16, rectangular intakes like the F-15, engine-fuselage separators inspired by the F-4 (Phantom), a tail that combines the F-16 and A-20, A-10-esque landing gear, stealth and slickness inspired by the F-22, P-38-style nose guns, and B-29 "headgear." In short, this plane is the amalgamation of several legends before it. It even references some planes from SimplePlanes itself as well, having flak guns Seemeing's J2M3 Raiden, missiles from the F-67G Extinctor, and guns and missiles from the F-11Y3. It also loosely references the P-10B with its rapid-fire rockets.
Credits
-Monarchii and Mousewithamachinegun122 (they used to be 123 but Monarchii stole one) for helping me improve my skills along the way
-Seemeing for the J2M3 flak guns
-Russia for stealing planes so I have a reason to get back at them
-Everyone other than America for having oil to take
-My braincells for holding together while making this list of credits (after the first four users, Monarchii, Mouse, Seemeing, and Russia)
-F-11Y3 for letting me steal his armament
-You for reading up to this point, you deserve three cookies 🍪🍪🍪🍪 but I'll give you four
-You're actually still reading this?
-You're an absolute legend for reading two more lines, have five more cookies 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪
-In all seriousness thanks for playing :)
-F in the chat for A-9 and B-29 by the way, we pay our respects to them
-I'll explain later I promise
Achievements
-Improving in every area, this plane reached a higher score than the A-40 that preceded it in the competition
-This plane took 4-5 direct hits from the Bye-Biplane without any damage.
-Then proceeded to shoot down that same plane
-My most downloaded plane at the moment
-Undoubtedly my best though
-Shot itself down with a destroyer via tractor beam
-Potential to win the challenge with a 38/50 score (tied with Erusean Sea Vixen)
-Fought in the Monarchii War
* * -No losses in the Monarchii War as of Day 7
Other Fun Facts
-For some reason, the A-40B is always just called the A-40 in the downloadable versions.
-This is because it was actually supposed to be named the Havoc III or Havoc II 2, but those both sounded pretty bad so I just went with Havoc II and renamed the new A-40 the A-40B.
-More fun facts regarding his name, the A-40's letter-number designation is the same as the Soviet A-40
-Yet, in an even more ironic turn of events, the A-40B has a grudge against the Soviets
-The A-40B was extensively used throughout the first week of the Monarchii War, but few pictures were taken of it due to its payload often rocking photographers before they even knew what happened
-There was a planned R-40, an unarmed reconnaissance version of the A-40B, but the R-40 would ultimately and quickly be cancelled, because I built the A-40B to be an ultimate weapon of unlimited power, not some spy who just looks at stuff
-The original A-40A had a short nose

@Mousewithamachinegun122 I just realized something, as of yet the A-40B is in first place with a score of 38/50, just barely beating out the OP A-10s at 37/50. This guy legitimately has a chance of winning provided that we don't get any late entries...
Wow. This is one of the most op planes I have gotten in the challange so far. Here is your score:
Look-8/10
Agility-8/10
Coolness-4/5
Quality-3/5
Weapons-8/10
Extra-7/10
Total-38/50
Very nice job, and thanks for participating!

@SPsidearm Yeah, R-40 was cancelled since it basically takes away what makes the A-40 the A-40.
@SPsidearm Yeah, R-40 was cancelled since it basically takes away what makes the A-40 the A-40.
The R-40???
@TheUltimatePlaneLover Ok!
@F16xl Good ideas, I'll take the tag too
@TheUltimatePlaneLover What about a A-40 Snowstone edition
@TheUltimatePlaneLover I got a modified A-40SI I can tag you in, you might get some ideas
@TheUltimatePlaneLover Flamethrower?
@F16xl I do plan to make more A-40s, I just don't know what upgrades to give them anymore between ideas and lag ;-;
@TheUltimatePlaneLover At least I’m on the same page with the A-40SI being the most modern of the A-40 family, and plans for new variants?
@TheUltimatePlaneLover Wait, I never flew the A-40C! Even when it was out, I thought The A-40B was as good as it gets
@TheUltimatePlaneLover Sorry, still, good plane
@F16xl
Ah
but 'tis the A-40B, the A-40C would be this
I haven’t flown the A-40C in sooooo long
@Boeing727200F It can't
@TheUltimatePlaneLover the ground needs to be defeated somehow
@Boeing727200F The ground is the single most OP entity in all of SP lol
It can be driven on, flown over, sunken, no-clipped and more, but it never breaks. It's always there.
@TheUltimatePlaneLover the A-40 isn’t as OP compared to the
GROUND
@Boeing727200F I mean I suppose? The A-40 isn't really designed to be flown by AI lol
@TheUltimatePlaneLover I was trying to dogfight this plane with a turreted aircraft and the AI on the A-40 freaked out and crashed due to the auto lock on the turrets, does that count as a hull loss to an enemy aircraft?
Note: the aircraft was in landing mode so it wasn’t able to fire weapons and missiles won’t lock onto it
@Boeing727200F You can, it can fly but it can't ground
@TheUltimatePlaneLover I think I could destroy it while it is on the ground, it might be a possibility.
@Boeing727200F oofers
