the shape is not 100% accurate

this is the world's largest nut. It's bigger than a iphone, a average size of a human head, and you won't believe it's shape! Sometimes people call this nut "butt nut" because it looks like a human butt.

it's original name is Lodoicea, commonly known as the sea coconut, coco de mer, or double coconut.

History and facts

Coco de mer is endemic to the Seychelles islands of Praslin and Curieuse. Before the Seychelles were discovered and settled, nuts of this species were sometimes carried by the ocean currents to distant shores, such as those of the Maldives, where the tree was unknown. These floating nuts did not germinate.

Centuries ago, before Seychelles were discovered and settled, the nuts from coco de mer used to wash up on distant shores, such as the Maldives, where the tree was unknown. There it was gathered from the beaches and traded with other countries.

now it is used for ice Cream, mousse, flan, parfait and bread as a ingredient.

The fruit of Coco de Mer is the largest in the world with a diameter of 40-50 centimetres and a weight of 15-30 kilogrammes. It is bilobed and flattened and usually contains one seed. Sometimes, it can also hold two to four seeds. The nut of Coco de Mer is the largest in the plant kingdom.

Coco de mer fruits, among the largest known, take about 10 years to ripen; they have a fleshy and fibrous envelope surrounding a hard, nutlike portion that is generally two-lobed, suggesting a double coconut. The contents of the nut are edible but are not commercially valuable.
