The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is a twin-engine, supersonic, all-weather, carrier-capable, multirole combat jet, designed as both a fighter and attack aircraft (hence the F/A designation). Designed by McDonnell Douglas (now part of Boeing) and Northrop (now part of Northrop Grumman), the F/A-18 was derived from the latter's YF-17 in the 1970s for use by the United States Navy and Marine Corps. The Hornet is also used by the air forces of several other nations, and formerly, by the U.S. Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels (read more here)

After Russia declared war apon nato, the United States Navy modified their F/A-18 fighters to carry a laser guided gbu-10 bomb and 9 25lb bombs. An aircraft carrier group field-modified these aircraft, until the US navy adopted it and added it to 56 other aircraft; some of these in the RAF, RCAF and German air-force too.

After the war, the effectiveness of these aircraft was truly noticed and 45 of the remaining 50 where changed to hold 1 (one) gbu-10 and 4 (four) gbu-38s.
