BM-34-57 Katyusha
Main description
The BM-34-57 Katyusha was a modifcation to make the obsolete tanks of the Soviet Union have a new use, like artilery pieces. The BM-34-57 Katyusha was first made applied in the late years in World War 2, however they did not see service, but they did see service in the Afganistan war between the Soviets and the Afgan insurgents. It was also imported in small numbers for the Iraqis and Egypt.
Design
The BM-34-57 Katyusha holds a rocket artilery system that holds 28 rockets. It has a barrier together with the system so that it does not damage the engine when firing.
Combat service and records
The BM-34-57 Katyusha was used in the Afganistan war between the Soviets and Afgan insurgents, it was used to bombard cities with rockets and weaken the position of the defensive spot of where the Afgans was. Ultimately the BM-34-57 Katyusha did not see much action besides bombarding cities strategically.
