Use vtol to tilt the rocket up (press 6 to release it when the bottom is on the ground.) use throttle to take off. after a bit press 2 to activate the second stage. when out of fuel press 3 to release the pod (it has airbrakes so use them to land) this is version 13 and it is not perfected yet.
