Demoiselle
Do you like to soar high above the clouds at speeds that mankind previously thought impossible? Do you like to feel yourself pushed backwards by a massive engine delivering thousands of pounds of thrust? If so, look elsewhere! This plane is NOT fast. Seriously, pointing the plane nose-down at full throttle, I couldn't exceed 200 mph. This plane was inspired by one of my favorite planes, the Demoiselle, designed by Brazilian Alberto Santos-Dumont and first flown in 1907. Credited by many as the first ultralight, the Demoiselle featured bamboo construction. The original used wing warping to bank the aircraft. My rendition of the aircraft has some differences, particularly the use of ailerons for banking and this plane has fewer struts than the original for convenience sake. Yes, it's slow. Yes, it's a little unweildly. But I found it a lot of fun to build and fly. I hope you enjoy! Vx: 58 mph Vy: 58 mph Vs: 47 mph Vg: 58 mph Vne: N/A (This plane can't go fast enough to get you in trouble.)
