The M60 machine gun, formally Machine Gun, Caliber 7.62mm, M60, is a family of general-purpose machine guns, utilizing the 7.62mm NATO cartridge in the M13 link. Designed by the Springfield Arsenal and adopted by the US Army in 1957, the M60 machine gun replaced the previous Browning-designed weapons. While it has been replaced in US service by the M240B as a GPMG and the M249 SAW as an LMG, the M60 remains in use with the US Navy and by SOCOM, and remains popular with various armed forces for its light weight, compactness, balance, and controllable firepower, especially when compared to other weapons like it. The M60 is still in production and receives regular upgrades to the design, and is currently manufactured by Saco Defense and US Ordnance, among others.
This particular model is a standard M60 machine gun. It is mounted on a pintle mount for use on ground vehicles, helicopters, and watercraft of all sizes. It is suitable against anything that walks, runs, floats, swims, and flies, so long as they’re close enough and not immune to 7.62mm NATO. Feel free to use, so long as I am credited.
