Mikoyan (MiG) E-266
630 moosefoot
7.5 years ago
Another one of Mikoyans record-breaking aircraft (see my previous E-166) from the good old days.
The E-266M was a test aircraft based on the MiG-25. While the MiG-25 was hella fast to begin with, the E-266M was even more optimized for speed and altitude.
It still to this day holds the absolute altitude world record for an air breathing jet aircraft, at 37,650 meters (123,524 ft) set in 1977.
(P.S. it's a shame that the inlets can't be slanted even more, not even in XML it seems like)
