The Boeing XPBB-1 Sea Ranger, built for the U.S. Navy, was an extremely long-range flying boat patrol bomber. It was the largest twin-engine airplane built until the time of its first flight in 1942. The Sea Rangers were designed for a "boosted takeoff" by being catapulted from huge barges. Although the normal range of the aircraft was 4,245 miles, designers believed this distance could double if fuel was saved by the catapulted takeoff.
The defensive armament of the PBB consisted of five powered turrets equipped with Browning .50 M2 machine guns. They were installed in the nose, in the tail, on the upper fuselage just aft of the trailing edge of the wing, and in two waist positions on the rear fuselage.
The prototype, designated XPBB-1, made its first flight on 9 July 1942. The aircraft handled very well and was considered technically successful. However, already in 1942 the PBB program had been cancelled. The need for a long-range flying boat had been reduced by the ability of land planes to fly long-range missions over the ocean. Furthermore, construction of a small number of PBB-1s would have a negative impact on the production rate of the B-29.
Despite suggestions that more aircraft might be built in the coming years, the XPPB-1 remained the single example of the type, and was accordingly nicknamed "Lone Ranger".
Because it was so hard to piece together, I couldn't implement a Bomb-bay. Instead, I made a functioning gun turret in the nose that does not disrupt the flight characteristics when it is rotated to one side or the other. As it is a heavy bomber, I made it slow to roll, but the pitch is surprisingly responsive.
To take off, begin in the water and punch the throttle all the way, and hold back on the stick until you are airborne (this should happen near 130 MPH). Reduce the throttle to 80% to maintain level flight below 5000 feet ASL.
This is a very fun plane to do touch-and-goes in the water, and it has incredible range. I think it's going to be my go-to plane in the multiplayer Fire-Fighting missions. Enjoy!

25.5k ScriefersGood to hear that @JMicah4. I really try to get all my builds to work perfectly on mobile. Unfortunately there are all fairly complex and part intensive so they don't always work at peak performance. Anyway thanks for testing these out and letting me know! You've always been a loyal fan and I appreciate your input!!9.5 years ago

25.5k Scriefers@JMicah4 oh nice. If you come across a plane that lags on it, try turning the physics settings down a bit.9.6 years ago

150 ahiredgunJust beautiful nice to see the lone ranger live again. But seriously you should have seen my devices temp gauge when I tested it out it went from 76'F to 112'F in less than 2 min wow but it was worth it cause it flys so well9.7 years ago

25.5k Scriefers@Rambo1050 it was built on my iPad, and I too get the warning when I download this plane. But it works just fine (you may need to turn down the terrain and water settings though).9.7 years ago

5,698 AceOfSpadeLet's hope it doesn't render my iPad Swiss cheese... On the other hand that might be yummy.9.7 years ago

Dev weebabyseamus@Scriefers it was one the first ones I built, but neither I or the others before have mastered it like you did with the A-10. That is the pinnacle of a perfect replica. I would love to see a F-15 in the same light. I cant wait.9.7 years ago
-
25.5k Scriefers@WeeBabySeamus, I've been sitting on a half completed f-15 for a while now. Never finished it because there are quite a bit on here already but I'll add it to the list!9.7 years ago

300 DEMIAnd one more thing, I seen your F-16 which I was confounded on how you had squares to be inside each other and other pieces, was it that simple to do that? Cause I need to do that, I attempted to do that yet the pieces would blast or squares would pop out, after that I recently abandoned making planes. It's genuinely a torment getting the pieces you need to join with others. Exceptionally baffling. @Scriefers9.7 years ago

300 DEMIThe pleasure is all mine , I know it would confounded to clarify. Well I experienced hellfire attempting to do that and it doesn't appear it has much detail. You make it appear to be so easy, yet much appreciated in any case. @Scriefers9.7 years ago
