BAC 150 Harpie

8,752 Gravity  6.7 years ago
Auto Credit Based on mikoyanster's Light Fighter Challenge **FINISHED**

Presenting the BAC 150 'Harpie', done out in Belgian Livery! First of all, this plane is mostly based off a Dassault/ Dornier Alpha jet, and I couldn't be happier with the result. Armed with four AIM9 Sidewinder missiles, and two BGT IRIS-T missiles, as well as two 27 mm Mauser BK-27 Revolver cannons, this king of the skies will not bow down to any opponent.

History:
Entering service in the mid 1990's, the Harpie was used largely in the middle east, in both direct combat and deterrent against terrorist groups and what the US believed to be 'Dangerous Countries'. With over 200 confirmed kills in combat, this plane was starting to become a superpower in itself. The US then started designs on what would become the BAe QF-4 (F-4 Phantom II), in the belief that if the Harpie's plans ever fell into the wrong hands, they would have a new fighter ready to take on the challenge. Although the Harpie never did enter a major war, it is still seen as a very important fighter, and some are still in use today, although mostly in airshows and the like.

Please, please, please, before you do the dogfights, remove the fuel tanks from either side of the plane

They are purely for aesthetics (looks), and make the plane's maneuverability worse!
