De Havilland Sea Venger
For Aaronrossdouglas22’s Cold War Fighter Challenge, the fictional De Havilland Sea Venger. In the 1960’s the UK was in need of a smaller carrier based fighter for their Fleet Air Arm. With their Sea Vixon already in use, De Havilland threw their hat into the ring with the Sea Venger. With the twin boom design they are known for, they were able to use more powerful engines, causing it to break Mach 1 in full afterburner, although with modern construction it doesn’t fall apart like previous DH aircraft. Also with it being made for carriers, the gear and airframe are overall stronger for the stresses of carrier operations. Armed with 4 nose mounted machine guns, and 4 Gaurdian missiles, it can shoot down the Soviet block aircraft with no difficulties. Complete with a cockpit, folding wings, and tailhook, have the experience of flying the pinnacle of British technology in the Cold War.
